Parque Urbano D. António Francisco dos Santos inaugurated in Lamego, Portugal

The new Parque Urbano D. António Francisco dos Santos was officially opened in Lamego on 25 July. The dedication ceremony honored the late bishop, noting his “life dedicated to God, education, human formation and service to the community.”

The plaque unveiling was performed by Lamego mayor Francisco Lopes and the Bishop of the Diocese of Lamego, amid the REJOICE – Jornada Nacional da Juventude 2026 celebration. More than 1,200 young people from across the country attended, hearing a recorded message from Pope Leo XIV encouraging hope, peace and commitment to Gospel values. The event concluded the three‑day youth programme that linked the 2023 World Youth Day in Lisbon with the upcoming 2027 edition in Seoul.
