Parral deputy demands urgent repairs to city drainage system

Local deputy Alma Portillo is demanding that the municipal government of Parral, Chihuahua, immediately address deficiencies in the city’s storm drainage system. Portillo warned that the deteriorating infrastructure poses risks to public health, mobility, and the property of local families during the rainy season.

During heavy rains, the city faces street chaos, flooding in homes, and the accumulation of water that creates infection risks, particularly for children. Portillo noted that while the State Congress has issued a formal demand for the municipality to repair and improve the system, she is calling for concrete actions rather than just paperwork. She emphasized that adequate pluvial infrastructure is an elemental responsibility of government and pledged to continue pressuring authorities until the issue is resolved.
