Parramatta Council endorses $28.3M river precinct connection project

The City of Parramatta Council has endorsed a revised concept design for the $28.3 million Western River Precinct Connections Project. The initiative aims to link the Parramatta CBD with the river foreshore, Parramatta Park, and several major local attractions, including CommBank Stadium, Riverside Theatres, and Powerhouse Parramatta.

The project will feature a new bridge, boardwalks, and accessible pathways designed to facilitate walking and cycling. To protect the local environment, the revised design incorporates elevated walkways to safeguard riverbanks, trees, and archaeological sites, alongside new wetland habitats, foreshore planting, and water quality improvement measures.

Lord Mayor Cameron MacLean stated the project will provide safer and more enjoyable connections for the more than two million people who walk or cycle along the Parramatta foreshore annually. State Member for Parramatta Donna Davis also noted the project's potential to enhance the area's liveability.
