The New South Wales government finalized rezoning of the 33‑hectare Parramatta North precinct, permitting the construction of up to 2,000 new homes in buildings ranging from two to 23 storeys. The UN draft decision earlier this year recommended the factory not be listed for world‑heritage status. Opposition figures, including Liberal leader Kellie Sloane, have urged the government to increase affordable housing provision.
