Parrot OS releases version 7.4 with AnonSurf 6.0 updates
Parrot OS, a Debian-based Linux distribution designed for cybersecurity professionals and privacy enthusiasts, has released version 7.4. This update includes Linux kernel 7.1.13 and features significant architectural improvements to its core tools.
A major highlight is the release of AnonSurf 6.0, which manages system traffic routing through the Tor network. The tool has been rebuilt with a Go-based backend and now utilizes systemd for more reliable handling of boot processes, DNS, firewall rules, and IPv6 configurations. It also includes the ability to automatically recover interrupted sessions during boot.
Other key updates include:
• Parrot Discovery: A new first-run setup application that assists users in installing browsers, editors, and privacy utilities via curated commands. • Rocket 2.0: A redesigned interface for managing containerized security applications using PySide6. • Hardware Optimization: Official ISO images optimized for newer processor architectures, specifically amd64v3 and arm64v8.2, to improve performance in compute-heavy tasks like cryptography and compression. • ARM Support: Expanded support for ARM64, including a beta image for the Orange Pi 5 Ultra and fixes for Raspberry Pi dependencies.
