Pará’s Economic Surge Positions Brazil’s Amazon as Global Growth Hub

Minister Helder Barbalho highlighted a rapid transformation of the Brazilian state of Pará, noting that new infrastructure, public‑service reforms and record investment have lifted the region’s profile nationally and internationally. The state now projects a modern image, balances its finances and hosts the COP30 climate summit in Belém, underscoring its role in global environmental discussions.

At the same time, the city of Santarém, located where the Tapajós meets the Amazon River, has become a key economic pole in the Amazon. Its strategic logistics position, diversified commercial activity, agribusiness, tourism and service sectors have driven job creation and expanded the regional GDP, turning the municipality into a model of integrated development for western Pará.
