Parship survey shows German singles' mixed views on AI in online dating

A survey conducted by the German online‑dating platform Parship asked more than 1,000 single respondents about the use of artificial intelligence in their dating communication.

Over half of the participants said AI‑inspired messages are acceptable – 58 % of women and 56 % of men – but when they recognize a message was fully generated by AI, 64 % end the conversation immediately. Only 21 % would let AI write an entire message. Younger singles are more receptive: 36 % of those aged 18‑29 are comfortable with AI‑written chats, compared with just 16 % of the 40‑48 age group and 14 % of those 50‑59.

Regarding profile creation, just a third (34 %) would allow a chatbot to optimise their profile, with men (39 %) more open than women (31 %). Trust in personal style rises with age, and only 17 % of respondents aged 60‑69 would use AI for profile writing.
