Parti Bangsa Malaysia recruits Ronnie Liu to lead West Malaysia expansion

Former Selangor DAP veteran Ronnie Liu has officially joined the Sarawak-based Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) to lead the party’s expansion efforts into West Malaysia. PBM president and Julau MP Larry Sng stated that Liu’s entry is a strategic move to broaden the party’s leadership circle and strengthen grassroots organization throughout Peninsular Malaysia, aiming to move the party beyond being perceived as a “one-man show” centered on Sng.

However, political analysts have expressed skepticism regarding the expansion. Critics, including Azmi Hassan of Akademi Nusantara and James Chin of the University of Tasmania, suggest that PBM may struggle to gain traction in the vastly different political landscape of West Malaysia. Analysts noted that PBM’s previous attempt to expand into Sabah was unsuccessful and argued that the party lacks a distinct political identity compared to established players in the peninsula.
