Parti conservateur du Québec unveils new immigration plan
Éric Duhaime and the Parti conservateur du Québec (PCQ) have unveiled a new immigration plan. The proposal includes a drastic reduction in the number of people admitted to Quebec and the introduction of “democracy” points into the selection criteria for immigrants.
Additionally, the plan seeks to decrease social assistance benefits for immigrants by 33%. During a televised debate, Duhaime argued that the current system allows asylum seekers to receive better services than the general population, even as the state struggles to meet the needs of its citizens.
