Parti québécois candidates issue regional election promises
As the provincial election approaches, candidates from the Parti québécois (PQ) are making key regional commitments in Quebec. In the Rivière-du-Loup–Témiscouata–Les Basques riding, PQ candidate Ariane Boyer is campaigning on a platform of local presence and change. Her primary priority is the restoration of obstetric services in Notre-Dame-du-Lac, which have been unavailable for over a year.
In the Charlevoix–Côte-de-Beaupré riding, PQ leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon has pledged to grant Charlevoix special status if his party wins, which would include access to youth tax credits and gas tax credits. Conservative candidate Caroline Simard has criticized this move as a last-minute attempt to gain support, questioning the consistency of the PQ's campaign positions.
