Partial opening of Spain's A-11 highway in Valladolid set for Aug 24

Spain's Ministry of Transport announced that two 34‑kilometre sections of the A‑11 autovía between Tudela de Duero and Olivares de Duero will be opened partially on 24 August, subject to the completion of the Duero viaduct at Quintanilla de Arriba. The opening will cover 31 km toward Valladolid and 26 km toward Peñafiel, aiming to ease traffic on surrounding roads and improve safety.

The project, costing €233 million, is expected to reduce fatal accidents on the parallel N‑122, which recorded 505 accidents, eight deaths, and 22 serious injuries over the past five years. The DGT highlighted that while traffic will shift to secondary routes such as VP‑3301 and VA‑101, the partial opening should lower exposure to the most dangerous stretch of the N‑122.

The viaduct remains under construction and is projected to be finished in several months, meaning full through‑traffic will still be unavailable until its completion.
