On August 12, 2026, Tunisia will experience a partial solar eclipse as the Moon covers up to 59.3 % of the Sun’s disk, coinciding with sunset. The peak of the eclipse will occur at 19:11 local time, just as the Sun nears the western horizon.

The Cité des sciences de Tunis has organized a public viewing at Sidi Mechreg in Sejnane, Bizerte Governorate, chosen for its unobstructed western horizon over the Mediterranean. The program includes telescope viewing with certified solar filters from 18:30 to 19:20, a live commentary of the eclipse phases, and a scientific conference at 19:30 covering eclipse mechanics and future astronomical events. Attendees are warned to use only approved solar‑filter glasses or equipment to avoid permanent eye damage.
