AI actress Tilly Norwood to lead feature film 'Misaligned

The digital character Tilly Norwood, an actress generated entirely by artificial intelligence and created by the London‑based studio Particle 6, has been announced as the lead in the upcoming feature film Misaligned. The project is described as a hybrid comedy‑drama that takes place in a surreal digital realm called the “Tillyverse,” where the AI‑born protagonist, lacking a physical body or personal memories, accesses the experiences of others and is drawn into a conflict with a rebellious bot from the dark web, prompting her to develop desires and ambitions.

Particle 6’s founder and CEO Eline van der Velden says the film combines traditional filmmakers with AI tools, positioning the technology as a support for human creativity rather than a replacement. The announcement has reignited debate within Hollywood, with actors, unions and industry observers expressing concern that AI‑generated performers could threaten jobs, while others view the development as an innovative storytelling aid. The film is still in early development, with no major Hollywood talent attached, and aims to demonstrate what AI can achieve when integrated with experienced human creators.

The move marks the first time an AI‑generated actress is slated to headline a full‑length narrative movie, positioning Tilly Norwood as a symbolic figure in ongoing discussions about the future role of artificial intelligence in the entertainment industry.
