Partido Popular criticizes Cavada over Camposoto shooting range promise

The Partido Popular (PP) has accused Mayor Patricia Cavada of revisiting a long-standing promise to release the Camposoto shooting range. The PP notes that in October 2017, Cavada announced the relocation of the range was “imminent” and that the City Council would fund a new military facility to free up the land, with availability expected by summer 2018.

Nine years after that announcement, the Mayor is again proposing a convenio with the Ministry of Defense to seek the declassification of the area. PP spokesperson María José de Alba criticized the timing of this move, occurring just weeks before general elections, and questioned why no progress was made during the eight years the Ministry of Defense was led by the PSOE.
