Ceuta migration crisis triggers political pressure on Spanish government

The opposition party, Partido Popular (PP), has criticized the administration's management of the situation, describing it as a national security crisis that has left the city in a state of insecurity and public health risk.

In response to the crisis, the PP has requested extraordinary appearances for President Pedro Sánchez and several ministers to explain the government's actions and its cooperation policy with Morocco. The President of the Congress has convened a meeting of the Permanent Deputation to vote on whether Sánchez should be summoned to plenary sessions to address the situation.

While the government has appointed Ángel Víctor Torres to lead the response, critics argue that the measures taken have been insufficient to address the ongoing presence of thousands of migrants in the autonomous city. The situation remains a point of contention between the executive branch and the opposition regarding border integrity and sovereignty.
