Partido Popular debates migrant minor distribution in Ceuta

Members of the Partido Popular (PP) in Andalusia have expressed varying stances regarding the proposed distribution of migrant minors currently in Ceuta. José Antonio Nieto, Counselor of Public Administration, stated that the party has not yet formally addressed the issue, suggesting that the central government should take the lead. He noted that Morocco has requested the return of minors to their home country and argued that legislation and the European Union support such actions.

In contrast, Manuel Gavira, second Vice President of the Junta de Andalucía, has previously voiced strong opposition to any distribution of minors across autonomous communities, maintaining that these children should remain with their families in their country of origin.

Additionally, PP parliamentary spokesperson Ester Muñoz criticized the Spanish government for what she described as inconsistent policies. She questioned the proposal by the Ministry of Youth and Childhood to relocate 500 girls and female adolescents to the mainland based on vulnerability and reports of sexual assault, arguing that no distinction should be made between the vulnerability of girls and boys.
