Partido Revolucionario Moderno faces questions over government composition

The composition of the Dominican Republic's government under the Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM) has raised questions regarding the party's internal capacity and leadership trust. While incorporating independent professionals and technical experts is often seen as a healthy practice for any administration, a pattern has emerged where key strategic positions are held by individuals outside the party's traditional structure.

Critical roles currently occupied by non-party members include the Executive Power's Legal Consultancy, the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance and Economy, Public Works, Education, and Agriculture. Additionally, leadership in the Central Bank, significant sectors of the electrical industry, and the recently vacated Superintendency of Banks have been entrusted to outsiders. This trend prompts debate over whether the PRM lacks sufficient prepared cadres to manage fundamental state institutions or if there is an underlying issue of political trust within the party.
