Partille care home resident attacked multiple times by fellow resident
An elderly resident at a care facility in Partille was attacked on four separate occasions by another resident suffering from dementia and BPSD symptoms. The incidents, which began in January 2026, included strangulation attempts, physical strikes to the face, and an assault that resulted in a shoulder injury.
The victim reportedly became so fearful of the attacks that they attempted to hide in their own wardrobe. While the municipality had an action plan in place due to the known volatility of the perpetrator, the violence frequently occurred during times when staff were occupied, rendering the plan ineffective in practice.
Partille Municipality has classified the events as a serious malpractice under the ‘lex Sarah’ regulations and has reported the matter to the Health and Social Care Inspectorate (IVO). The individual responsible for the attacks is currently undergoing compulsory psychiatric care.
