Partito Democratico opposes hunting reform and develops coalition program

The Italian Democratic Party (PD) is intensifying its opposition to a proposed hunting law reform, which deputies Eleonora Evi and Patrizia Prestipino have labeled an ‘unconstitutional disgrace.’ The party argues the reform does not reflect the will of the majority and serves extremist interests rather than traditional hunters or citizens.

Opposition members have also criticized Agriculture Minister Francesco Lollobrigida, accusing him of failing to report on the implementation of Law 157/92 and ignoring health emergencies such as avian influenza and African swine fever. The hunting reform is expected to be a major campaign issue for the opposition in upcoming elections.

Separately, PD Secretary Elly Schlein is focusing on defining a coalition program alongside political allies. Schlein emphasized a participatory approach to policy-making, prioritizing issues such as the minimum wage, housing rights, renewable energy, public education, and the national health system. The party aims to build a common platform with progressive allies rather than pursuing a unilateral agenda.
