Partizan and Benfica secure significant wins in European qualifiers
In European club competition qualifiers, Partizan secured a 3-0 victory against Tobol in the first leg of the third qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League. The win puts the Serbian side one step away from the play-offs, with a decisive second leg scheduled in Kazakhstan.
Should Partizan advance, they are expected to face the Spanish side Hetafe. Hetafe recently played a friendly match against Tottenham, resulting in a 1-1 draw. Hetafe is currently dealing with the loss of player Kristantus Uchea, who suffered serious knee ligament injuries.
In the UEFA Europa League third qualifying round, Benfica took a commanding lead in their first leg against Hearts with a 6-1 victory at the Estádio da Luz. Goals from Rafa Silva, Tomas Araujo, Vangelis Pavlidis, Prestijani, John Duran, and Andreas Schjelderup secured the win for the Portuguese side.
Hearts, the Scottish runners-up, face a difficult task in the return leg in Edinburgh. The defeat highlights defensive struggles for the Scottish club, which has conceded 12 goals across three European qualifying matches.
