Partizan basketball: Goran Grbović analyzes team performance
Former Partizan basketball player Goran Grbović has shared insights regarding the current state of Serbian basketball and the performance of Belgrade rivals Partizan and Red Star. In an interview with Max-Sport, Grbović emphasized his deep connection to Partizan, stating that his time with the club shaped him both as a player and an individual.
Addressing Partizan’s EuroLeague campaign, Grbović noted that the team is playing a new style under coach Joan Penarroja. He observed that while the team shows strong defensive pressure and can disrupt opponents, they struggle when facing the depth and quality of elite rosters like Real Madrid, Panathinaikos, and Fenerbahce. He suggested that while fans dream of the Final Four, the current squad depth requires more cautious expectations.
Nikola Lončar also commented on Penarroja’s tenure, noting that the coach faced an impossible mission following the departure of Zeljko Obradovic. Lončar remarked that while Penarroja achieved a record winning streak in the EuroLeague, the lack of trophies in the ABA League and domestic competitions remains a point of evaluation for the season's end.
