Partizán founder Márton Gulyás resigns as editor-in-chief

Márton Gulyás, the founder of the Hungarian media outlet Partizán, has announced his resignation as editor-in-chief, effective September 1. He will transition to the role of board chairman and a content creator focusing on long-form video productions.

Gulyás revealed that his recent absence from the public eye was due to a serious health issue. After struggling with arrhythmia for 14 years, his condition worsened last autumn, necessitating a multi-hour open-heart surgery at the Honvéd Hospital following the recent elections. He reported that the surgery was successful and he is currently in excellent health following a period of rehabilitation.

The leadership change is part of a broader organizational restructuring at Partizán. The outlet is separating its legal and operational management. Vince Földiák, a long-time team member, will take over as the new editor-in-chief. The foundation will now be represented by a three-person board consisting of Gulyás as chairman, Iván Pap as financial director, and Földiák as editor-in-chief. Operational content leadership will be managed by an Editorial Committee.

Gulyás also announced a new documentary project titled ‘The Hungarian Heart,’ which will explore cardiovascular diseases and medical care in Hungary, incorporating footage from his own surgical experience.
