Partners Group secures $1 billion private credit mandate in Asia

Swiss private markets firm Partners Group has secured a $1 billion private credit mandate from a major unnamed institutional investor in Asia. The mandate utilizes an open-ended evergreen structure designed to provide flexible, long-term exposure to the asset class across the Asia-Pacific region.

The portfolio will focus on senior and junior direct lending opportunities, maintaining diversification across various sectors and jurisdictions. This deal follows a trend of increasing demand from institutional investors, such as sovereign wealth funds and insurers in Southeast Asia and Japan, who are seeking attractive risk-adjusted returns compared to public fixed-income portfolios.

This mandate is part of a broader expansion for Partners Group in the region; the firm has closed more than five major mandates in Asia over the past year, including an €800 million mandate for a regional sovereign wealth fund. The firm has established bespoke solutions for investors in Greater China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and South Korea.
