PAS and UMNO urged to prioritize political unity over seat disputes

Political analysts and leaders are calling for cooperation between PAS and UMNO, urging both parties to prioritize political unity over disputes regarding seat allocations.

Political analyst Dr. Mohd Ridhuan Tee Abdullah advised the two Malay-Islam parties not to be greedy with seats, noting that no party should view a seat as an absolute right. He emphasized that seat disputes should not hinder the goal of unity.

UMNO Youth Chief Datuk Dr. Muhamad Akmal Saleh stated that the relationship between PAS and UMNO should extend beyond election interests, such as the upcoming Melaka state election, to encompass broader shared interests. He noted positive momentum in their relationship, citing recent exchanges between UMNO Youth and PAS leadership. While the final decision on cooperation for the Melaka election rests with top party leadership, there is a desire within UMNO Youth to realize cooperation between Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional.
