Pasadena postal worker under investigation for alleged peacock assault

Authorities are investigating a U.S. Postal Service worker following the alleged assault of a white peacock named Sugar in Pasadena, California. Surveillance footage released by local media appears to show the mail carrier spraying a liquid toward the bird, throwing an object at it, and eventually striking the peacock with an object while it was in front of a mail delivery truck.

Pasadena Humane reported that the bird is recovering well from the incident. While the peacock suffered swelling and minor wounds, X-rays confirmed there were no broken bones. The animal is described as alert, mobile, and eating normally with a good prognosis.

The U.S. Postal Service stated it is reviewing the incident and gathering facts, noting that employees are expected to conduct themselves professionally. The agency also mentioned that postal workers in the area have had previous encounters with local peacocks and have been working with Pasadena Humane to address concerns regarding the birds.
