Pasitos association celebrates 28 years of autism support
The civil association Pasitos is celebrating 28 years of providing specialized care, education, and inclusion services for children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and neurodivergences in Tijuana. Over nearly three decades, the organization has reached more than 150,000 beneficiaries through its various initiatives.
Pasitos operates through three primary programs: a Special Education program providing a school-like environment for skill development; a Psychopedagogical Center offering psychological evaluations and therapies such as behavioral, language, and Denver models; and the 'Pasitos Extramuros' program. The latter focuses on community sensitization and early detection by visiting schools, businesses, and public institutions.
Director General Susana Nieves highlighted that the organization was founded to combat the lack of information and late diagnoses that families faced years ago. While the association has formed alliances with entities like Certus Laboratorio Clínico and Caliente Ayuda to foster inclusion, it continues to face challenges due to increasing demand and the ongoing need for adequate educational spaces for neurodivergent children.
