PASOK criticizes Alexis Tsipras and his new political coalition
The PASOK-KINAL party has issued sharp criticisms against former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras following his press conference regarding the Greek Leftist Coalition (EL.A.S.). PASOK leadership characterized Tsipras as an “unsuccessful Prime Minister and unsuccessful leader of the official opposition,” suggesting his new political movement is an attempt to fill a void created by his own 2019 electoral defeat.
PASOK officials accused Tsipras of political inconsistency, noting that while he previously rejected all cooperation with PASOK, he now appears “regretful” as his financial support wanes. The party also highlighted perceived policy alignments between Tsipras’s new coalition and the ruling New Democracy party on issues such as private debt management, pensions, and foreign policy.
Additionally, PASOK addressed the role of Tsipras’s close associate, Mr. Siankataris, questioning Tsipras’s political credibility regarding his previous denials of Siankataris’s involvement in certain institutional roles. PASOK emphasized its own commitment to a consistent and logical political program, asserting its independence from government pressures.
