PASOK criticizes cuts to Greece 2.0 recovery fund social measures

The PASOK-Kίνημα Αλλαγής political party has launched a new campaign criticizing the Greek government for allegedly abandoning key social commitments within the ‘Greece 2.0’ framework and the Recovery and Resilience Facility.

In its sixth campaign video, the party highlights several specific measures that were reportedly removed or scaled back following revisions to the recovery plan. Key areas of concern include childcare and family support, with the party noting that the original goal of creating and staffing 50,000 new nursery positions by the end of 2024 was deleted. Other cited cuts include the removal of 135 Creative Activity Centers for children aged 12-15 and a €16 million project intended to establish 120 childcare facilities within large and medium-sized enterprises.

The party also pointed to reductions in social inclusion funding, such as the withdrawal of €8.3 million previously designated to support the professional integration of individuals on the autism spectrum, and the cancellation of support programs for 7,000 recipients of the Minimum Guaranteed Income. PASOK argues that these changes represent a shift away from addressing demographic and social exclusion challenges in Greece.
