PASOK criticizes Greek government on economy and education

The PASOK – Movement for Change party has issued several critiques of the current Greek government regarding economic, educational, and cultural policies.

In relation to the ratification of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Greek State and the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, party representative Pavlos Christidis raised questions regarding the oversight and implementation of the 10-million-euro, ten-year funding plan. He questioned the criteria for project selection and the transparency of the process.

Regarding the economy, PASOK representatives expressed frustration over the Prime Minister’s announcements at the Thessaloniki International Fair. They criticized the lack of concrete decisions for small and medium-sized enterprises, specifically citing the failure to abolish presumptive taxation, the lack of a dedicated business account, and insufficient reductions in employer social security contributions.

On social issues, the party highlighted a crisis in public education, citing bureaucracy and resource shortages. Additionally, spokesperson Kostas Tsoukalas outlined PASOK’s political platform, which includes proposals for protecting primary residences, reinstating the 13th month pension and salary, and returning minimum wage negotiations to social partners.
