PASOK criticizes Greek government over special education shortages

The PASOK education sector and MP Stefanos Parastatidis have criticized the Greek government regarding the state of special education. They argue that the reality for students, families, and educators differs significantly from the image presented during the Prime Minister’s recent visit to the ‘Rosa Imvioti’ Special Experimental Primary School.

The opposition highlights several critical issues, including shortages in personnel, inadequate student transportation, and delays in assessments at KEDASY centers. They specifically noted that in September 2025, parents and teachers at the same school reported that four out of six required transport routes were unavailable, leaving children with disabilities at risk.

Furthermore, PASOK questioned the effectiveness of the 7,244 inclusion departments cited by the government, asking how many are fully staffed to provide meaningful support. They also raised concerns regarding ‘Parallel Support’ services, noting that approved hours are often stretched thin among too many students.
