PASOK member criticizes Greek heating oil subsidies

Katerina Solomou, a medical professor and member of the PASOK Political Council, has criticized recent Greek government announcements regarding heating oil and subsidies. She argues that the measures are merely communicative tools that fail to address the actual wave of inflation and the rising cost of living.

Solomou contends that heating oil prices have increased by nearly 40% compared to the previous year, with starting prices around 1.55 euros. She suggests the government is prioritizing fuel tax revenues over providing substantive relief to citizens, such as pensioners and low-income workers, who struggle to afford basic heating needs.
