PASOK and Greek Left Coalition enter intense political conflict

Political tensions in Greece have escalated into an open conflict between PASOK and the Greek Left Coalition (EL.A.S.). The confrontation was triggered by an article written by Thanasis Karteros, a former speechwriter for Alexis Tsipras, which questioned the political strategy of PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis and used the derogatory term “fool” to describe him.

PASOK has responded with sharp official statements, accusing Tsipras of directing these personal attacks through Karteros to destabilize the party. PASOK leadership claims that the actions of EL.A.S. and its associates serve the interests of the ruling New Democracy party by dividing the progressive camp. The party also criticized Panos Kammenos for his recent comments, labeling his rhetoric as far-right and populist.

Further complicating the situation is a separate dispute involving PASOK official Dimitris Konstantopoulos and EL.A.S. deputy spokesperson Anna Papadopoulou. Papadopoulou has alleged verbal aggression during a televised debate and has indicated her intention to pursue legal action. This incident has added another layer of friction to the broader struggle for dominance within the Greek center-left as new polling cycles approach.
