PASOK MP Manolis Christodoulakis threatens legal action over business allegations

PASOK Member of Parliament Manolis Christodoulakis has issued a legal notice to the newspaper ‘Dimokratia’, threatening judicial action if reports regarding his family business are not retracted within ten days. The newspaper had published allegations concerning direct public sector contracts worth up to 9 million euros awarded to Datamed, a health informatics company owned by his family, as well as claims of undisclosed meetings with Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis.

Christodoulakis has denied these reports, stating that Datamed has operated legally in the health IT sector for three decades and that its business activities are entirely separate from his political career. He further denied ever meeting Georgiadis or attempting to undermine his party. He characterized the reports as a violation of journalistic ethics and an attempt to defame his character.

Separately, political analysis suggests the ruling New Democracy party faces a shifting landscape in Greece. The emergence of the Greek Left Coalition, led by Alexis Tsipras, is noted as a factor that has restored political confrontation, challenging the government's ability to maintain its previous dominance and forcing it to defend its eight-year record.
