PASOK and ELAS recruit former SYRIZA members for elections

Following Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis's indication that national elections may occur in the spring of 2027, center-left political parties in Greece are accelerating efforts to prepare their electoral ballots.

PASOK is actively seeking to expand its ranks by recruiting former SYRIZA members. Nikos Androulakis has announced the joining of former SYRIZA MPs Olympia Teligioridou and Lefteris Avramakis. Other names being discussed for potential inclusion in PASOK ballots include Nina Kasimati and Theodora Tzakri.

Simultaneously, the ELAS party is also looking to strengthen its candidate lists by drawing from the same political pool of former SYRIZA members. Meanwhile, SYRIZA faces pressure to retain its core strength while exploring potential political collaborations with smaller progressive forces such as PRAXTI and the Greens.
