PASOK spokesperson Kostas Tsoukalas warns against water privatization and fire service cuts in Crete

PASOK press spokesman Kostas Tsoukalas said the party had warned the parliament about the weakening of the fire service in Crete, urging the government to ensure frontline firefighters have adequate resources and to review the deployment criteria for seasonal crews.

He also condemned the government's water‑management bill, arguing it would commercialise a public good by expanding the responsibilities of the state‑owned water companies EYDAP and EYATH to all municipalities, violating Article 102 of the Constitution that protects local fiscal and administrative autonomy. Tsoukalas pledged that PASOK will work to return control of water resources to municipalities and producers.

Tsoukalas noted that the upcoming presentation by Minister Nikos Androulaki to the Hellenic Parliament in September will outline a ten‑year vision for Greece, linking these reforms to broader economic and social policies.
