PASOK welcomes MP Alexandros Avlonitis to parliamentary group

PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis has officially welcomed Alexandros Avlonitis, the former independent MP for Corfu, into the party’s parliamentary group. Avlonitis, who was previously elected with SYRIZA and later joined the Movement for Democracy, met with Androulakis at the Greek Parliament to formalize the move.

Androulakis praised Avlonitis for his “intense presence and parliamentary work,” stating that the union of forces aims for political change. This transfer is part of a broader trend of political movement within the Greek center-left as elections approach, with several figures shifting between PASOK, SYRIZA, and other political entities.

In a separate development, PASOK faces internal shifts as Agathi-Roza Bretto resigned from the party’s health sector and its membership, citing bureaucratic issues and a lack of internal democracy. Meanwhile, Androulakis criticized the current government’s policies, arguing that the administration has failed to address issues in healthcare, education, and purchasing power.
