Pass'Aran Circular Trek and Picos de Europa Ring Highlight Spain's Premier Long-Distance Mountain Routes

The Pass'Aran circular trek in the Pyrenees covers 71.5 km over five days, with a total ascent of 5,842 m and descent of 5,896 m. The route starts in the Spanish Vall de Aran, crosses into France, and features high‑mountain scenery, alpine lakes and forested valleys. It is rated medium to high difficulty and requires hikers to be comfortable with daily elevation changes of more than 1,400 m.

The Picos de Europa Ring in northern Spain offers three variants – the Vindio, Extrem and the full three‑massif circuit – ranging from 63 to 115 km and 2 to 6 days. Elevation gain spans 3,900 to over 9,000 m, with stages linking iconic refuges such as Vegarredonda, Jou de los Cabrones and Urriellu.
