Passenger horror film becomes top hit on Paramount+

The horror film ‘Passenger’, directed by André Øvredal, has become the top movie on the Paramount+ streaming platform following its release on August 20, 2026. While the film had a modest theatrical run, grossing approximately $31 million worldwide, it has successfully climbed to the number one spot on the streamer’s Top 10 charts.

Starring Jacob Scipio and Lou Llobell as a couple living in a van, the plot follows the pair as they are stalked by a demonic entity after witnessing a murder. Oscar winner Melissa Leo appears in the film as a mysterious stranger who may hold the key to their survival.

Critical reception for the film has been mixed, with a 47% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite the divided reviews, the film has found a significant audience on streaming, following in the footsteps of Øvredal’s previous works such as ‘Trollhunter’ and ‘The Autopsy of Jane Doe’.
