Passignano sul Trasimeno: Man saved from cardiac arrest by bystanders

A man was saved from cardiac arrest in Passignano sul Trasimeno on August 15 through the rapid intervention of bystanders and a volunteer. The victim, Roberto, the husband of Fano Deputy Mayor Loretta Manocchi, fell ill while traveling in a car to a supermarket during a holiday.

Following the collapse, a friend alerted others, and a bystander who had recently completed first aid training performed chest compressions. A 33-year-old 118 emergency service volunteer, Francesco Tabacchioni, also stopped to assist and coordinated with medical operators. A defibrillator was retrieved from a nearby Carabinieri station with the help of a passing cyclist. The combined use of CPR and the automated external defibrillator (AED) allowed the man to recover without lasting heart or brain damage.
