PassionAir flight encounters severe turbulence between Kumasi and Accra

Passengers aboard a PassionAir flight from Kumasi to Accra experienced severe turbulence and violent aircraft movements during a flight in early November 2026. The incident occurred shortly after takeoff amidst heavy rainfall, leading to reports of the aircraft repeatedly ascending and descending.

Kwadwo Nkansah, a Kumawood actor known as Lil Win, was among those on board alongside former Environmental Protection Agency boss Dr. Henry Kwabena Kokofu and Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene. Witnesses described a frightening scene where passengers screamed and feared for their lives as the plane made sharp movements. Dr. Kokofu described the event as the worst flying experience of his life, noting it felt as though the aircraft had collided with something in the air.

Lil Win noted that while the flight was initially delayed due to weather, the pilot proceeded with the journey. He has since appealed to airlines to prioritize passenger safety by delaying flights during adverse weather conditions rather than adhering strictly to schedules. The aircraft eventually stabilized and landed safely.
