You Ting disappearance: Shredded passport found in Athens

Authorities in Greece are investigating the disappearance of You Ting, a 50-year-old Chinese translator who has been missing since May 2026. Recent developments have introduced several perplexing pieces of evidence.

Her passport was discovered in the Galatsi Forest, shredded into 22 pieces and showing signs of prolonged exposure to sunlight and weather. Her husband noted that the precision of the cuts suggests the possible use of a document shredder. This find is geographically separate from her mobile phone, which was previously located in Athens near America Square.

In a separate development, human remains, including a skull, were found in a trash bag in a cave in Kypseli. However, police sources consider it highly unlikely that these remains belong to You Ting, given the state of the bones and the timeline of her disappearance.

The investigation involves the Hellenic Police, Chinese authorities, and Interpol. Key questions remain regarding the whereabouts of her other personal documents, such as her residence permit and driver's license, and the circumstances surrounding her last known movements in Artemida and Athens.
