Pastef launches legislative offensive in Senegal as Swiss-EU debates begin

In Senegal, the Pastef parliamentary majority has announced an offensive against the government following the rejection of all its legislative proposals in technical commissions. Key rejected measures include a proposal to present oil contracts to the National Assembly for debate before presidential signature, a bill regarding mental health in prisons, and a proposal to regulate special credits.

The government, through the Ministry of Energy, rejected the oil contract proposal, arguing it falls under regulatory matters. The parliamentary majority intends to use upcoming plenary sessions to demand transparency and defend public interests.

In Switzerland, the Council of States is set to begin a three-day debate in Bern regarding the Bilaterals III package of agreements with the European Union. The session, scheduled from Monday to Wednesday, will feature high-level participation from Federal Councillors Ignazio Cassis, Guy Parmelin, and Beat Jans. While the government views the examination as a critical step in the process, the UDC party has criticized the scheduling as being rushed.
