Pasto and Otavalo establish cultural and tourism cooperation

Authorities and cultural managers from Colombia and Ecuador met in Pasto to foster binational cooperation and cultural integration. A delegation from the Otavalo Canton, led by members of the Yamor 2026 Festival Executive Committee, met with the Pasto Secretariat of Culture at the Museo del Carnaval.

The dialogue focused on exchanging knowledge regarding the unique cultural expressions of both territories. Key topics included the Carnaval de Negros y Blancos in Pasto and the Fiestas del Yamor in Otavalo, highlighting how ancestral traditions strengthen Andean identity.

The meeting concluded with an interest in establishing a joint work agenda. Proposed initiatives include artist and manager exchanges, joint event promotion, cultural tourism development, and the preservation of shared material and immaterial heritage.
