Pasto names Colonel Andrea Carolina Cáceres Naranjo as new police commander

The municipality of Pasto, Colombia, welcomed Colonel Andrea Carolina Cáceres Naranjo as the new commander of the Police Metropolitan of Pasto. In her inaugural address she pledged to continue strategies aimed at reducing homicide and theft, strengthening community policing, dismantling criminal structures and encouraging citizen reporting.

Mayor Nicolás Toro highlighted the city’s commitment to security, noting an investment of more than 20 billion Colombian pesos for cameras, drones, patrol vehicles, motorcycles and intelligence systems. He cited recent results, including over 2,500 arrests in the past seven months and a noticeable drop in homicide rates, attributing these gains to coordinated efforts between the National Police and municipal authorities. The administration affirmed its intent to maintain close collaboration with the police to further improve public safety and community coexistence.
