Pastors express concern over AI misinterpreting Scripture

A survey by the Barna Research Group indicates significant skepticism among religious leaders regarding the use of artificial intelligence for interpreting Scripture. According to the report, 94% of pastors expressed concern that AI might misinterpret religious texts.

When asked how AI should handle theological disputes, 60% of pastors believe the technology should present all major interpretations of a passage without declaring one as correct. This preference for presenting multiple perspectives is intended to preserve the diversity of discernment required in ministry. Barna researchers noted that relying on AI for preaching and counseling could lead to a convergence on simplified answers, potentially thinning the depth of spiritual care.
