Pastrimi apologizes for waste collection delays in Kosovo

The regional waste company ‘Pastrimi’ has issued an apology for delays and incomplete waste collection services in several neighborhoods of the capital and other operational areas. The company attributed these difficulties to a change in operating hours at the Mirash landfill.

As of October 1, the Kosovo Landfill Management Company (KMDK) implemented a new schedule where the Mirash landfill closes at midnight. ‘Pastrimi’ stated that this change prevents the completion of planned night-shift operational cycles, noting that effective waste collection requires uninterrupted 24-hour service.

The company clarified that landfill management is not within its competence, as KMDK is an independent central public enterprise. ‘Pastrimi’ teams are currently working to recover the backlog and minimize impacts on citizens and public health while maintaining communication with KMDK to find a solution.
