Pasuruan Quranic teacher arrested for allegedly abusing two students

Police in Pasuruan, East Java, have arrested a Quranic teacher identified by the initials NH for the alleged sexual abuse of two underage female students. The arrest took place in Blarang Village, Tutur District, following reports from the victims' parents.

According to Iptu Joko Suseno of the Pasuruan Police, the suspect used a pretext of overnight stays at his Quranic Education Center (TPQ) to prepare for exams. During these stays, the suspect allegedly molested the victims, who are approximately 11 and 12 years old, while they were sleeping. The abuse came to light after one victim informed her parents.

The Pasuruan Child Protection Agency (LPA) has condemned the incident, stating that the suspect's actions tarnish religious education and calling for strict legal action.
