Pat Cummins names Saeed Ajmal and Cheteshwar Pujara as toughest opponents

Australian Test captain Pat Cummins has identified his most challenging opponents from various cricketing nations during a recent video interaction with Prime Video Sport.

Regarding Pakistan, Cummins singled out former spinner Saeed Ajmal, describing him as a unique bowler. Cummins recalled being clean bowled by Ajmal’s doosra, stating, “I’ve never seen anything like that.” Ajmal, who played for Pakistan between 2008 and 2015, finished his international career with 447 wickets across all formats.

From India, Cummins named Cheteshwar Pujara as his toughest opponent, comparing the experience of bowling to him to “death by a thousand paper cuts.” He noted that Pujara’s grit and willingness to play numerous dot balls made him exceptionally difficult to dismiss.

Other notable opponents mentioned by Cummins include Alastair Cook of England, Brendon McCullum of New Zealand, AB de Villiers of South Africa, Tillakaratne Dilshan of Sri Lanka, and Chris Gayle of the West Indies.
