Pat Utomi says Nigeria is worse than under Abacha, slams Tinubu government
Political economist and former presidential candidate Professor Pat Utomi criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stating that Nigeria’s current condition is worse than it was during the military rule of General Sani Abacha. Utomi made the remarks in an interview on Nigeria Info 99.3 FM, linking the nation’s challenges to the failed 1998 transition from military to civilian rule. He cited concerns raised by the Catholic Bishops of Nigeria, noting that their structured process involves groups such as the Justice, Development and Peace Commission before the bishops present a collective position. Utomi referenced a speech delivered by Cardinal John Onaiyekan that reflects the bishops’ collective concerns. Utomi’s comments underscore growing public frustration with economic and governance issues under Tinubu’s presidency.
