Patagonia and Chile face extreme wind and temperature shifts

Extreme weather conditions are affecting regions across Patagonia and Chile, characterized by intense winds, temperature fluctuations, and heavy precipitation.

In the Argentine Patagonia, a cold front has brought significant wind gusts of up to 70 km/h and freezing temperatures to the mountain range. The Servicio Meteorológico Nacional reports snowfall and rain in higher altitudes, with temperatures near 0 °C in some areas. Regions such as Neuquén, General Roca, and Bariloche are experiencing high wind speeds and cooler conditions.

In Chile, meteorological warnings highlight sharp regional contrasts. The mountain ranges are facing blizzard conditions and wind gusts exceeding 80 km/h, particularly in the Coquimbo, Valparaíso, Metropolitan, O’Higgins, and Maule regions. Conversely, northern areas like Atacama are expected to see high temperatures reaching up to 32 °C, accompanied by potential sandstorms. The Raco wind is also expected to impact the areas between Ñuble and Los Lagos, causing rapid changes in thermal sensation.
